The weatherman was right, for change. We woke up to a good 12″ of snow. Light powder, not the heavy, wet stuff. Way to deep to drive in, so we had to walk over to the barn to feed our horses. We chose the road instead of the fields, which was a good thing. I tried the snow shoes, but the snow was so light that I sunk down in it! My new boots aren’t as high as my old snow packs were, so I was hoping for the best.
Luckily, a few brave souls created some tracks that Tom and I could walk down. At 6:00 a.m, you never know if you will be the first one on the road…and with it being a holiday, I was pleasantly surprised and greatful that we had a path, of sorts to walk in. When we got to our neighbor’s drive, the wind created a nice size drift that we had to wade through. The horses were a little upset that we were late bringing in their breakfast. Oh, well, at least we made it!
We were planning a nice, quiet day. Looks like it will be nice, quiet? perhaps. They are promising more snow…maybe I’ll get out the sleigh and hook up one of the horses! But until we get plowed out, we will get more than our share of exercise!
Happy New Year!
